DANCING IN SOMEONE ELSE'S SHOES

In the landscape
of life where
dreams often
send convoluted
messages...
She wanted to dance
in someone else's shoes
Abandon all the carefully
constructed plans
held over her head
Weighing her down
with the gravity of
dark shadows
and no sense
of freedom or breath

She knew she was
worth more than
what seemed
to be the case
In fact, she was
the salt of the earth
Hadn't her father
always told her so
Cutting each thread
binding her to
them
Casting her bread
on troubled
waters as he did

  2. This can be read as a tribute to her father. We all need those affirmations in our lives. The words we hear as children can haunt and help us always. I like the image you selected to accompany this piece. Thanks for writing with us, Sharon. I so enjoy the depth of your work.

  3. Haven't we all been there before, Sharon. Like Brenda, I too enjoy the depth of your work. You always have something worthwhile to say. Nice work with the words.

  5. while developing into the person you want to be, mentoring plays a very important part; a lovely tribute to that aspect of the process
