LIKE AN IMPACT

  (after Wislawa Szymborska's "Possibilities")

I like wolves
I like birch trees
I like the cliffs that climb up from Lake Ontario
I like Verdi more than I do Wagner
I like needing people from a remote, safe distance
I like the scenes in a movie that haunt me
I like to think there might be a god, maybe even more than one
I like finding pools of kindness in unexpected acts of cruelty
I like a rollicking storm
I like to think my lifeless body won't just become litter
I like to think the price of illumination is living

  2. I like any poem written by you! But that's just the way I am! Nicely done, Sharon!

  3. Love how you begin each line with "I like", because those are some wonderful things to like, Sharon.

  7. Exactly Sabra...it was Szymborska's list poem that inspired me (even tho mine's only a "mini" compared to his and I may revise mine someday to make it longer...)...thanks all for coming, reading, and especially, for commenting...
