Music by Design

A cello is weeping
   in my church today
Tears of sound plunk
Hitting both ears and
     floor with
A measured enervation
      that grates

Oh, I beg of you
     dear cellist
Bless us with what
       I know
Resides inside your
      wooden friend
Play us something just
      a bit less mournful

Allow if you would be
      so kind
Bach to retire now and
      perhaps Mozart
Or even Pachelbel could
      step up
And fill this space with
      music, sweet music
