Baker's Dozen poem prompt "daughters" 12.28.10

A Daughter’s Intuition

Before the ruckus of Christmas started—
Present opening,and turkey, and crackers
And carols on the stereo – my daughter
Pulled me aside and pressed two CD’s
Into my hand – “one for the service”
She knew I had been searching unsuccessfully
For several pieces on-line so had recorded
Them herself, and one, “...some tunes
To help you grieve – nothing that will
make you want to slit your wrists,”
She assured me, “Just some poignancy,
You know?” I do know, bless her.
