You With Your Heart

For starters
you were always
at a disadvantage - born
with your feet held
to the flame
There would be
no serenity
on earth
for you
A planet frozen
Its fields
of fire and ice
filled with subtle
but ongoing shocks
causing your anguish
You with your heart
filled with permeable
bits of hope
and left open
to fresh hurt ...
again and again.

  1. Sharon, This is wondrful. There is truth in your last 6 lines. Truth and wisdom.

  2. A little jewel of a poem from the arresting image of the feet held in the flames to the permeable bits of hope.

  3. Dave stole my comment. So, what he says.

The speaker's tone is particularly clear. It would be an interesting poem for a read aloud.
